Description
Axiom Upper Control Arm Bushing Kit | 2001–2010 Chevy Silverado / GMC Sierra 2500HD & 3500HD | Suspension Rebuild
The Axiom Upper Control Arm Bushing Kit (SKU: AXGMUCAB10) is a direct-fit replacement bushing kit for the upper control arm (UCA) on 2001–2010 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD/3500HD and GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD trucks (GMT800 and GMT900 platforms). Worn upper control arm bushings are a primary cause of front-end clunking, steering wander, uneven tire wear, and inconsistent alignment on high-mileage GM HD trucks. These replacement bushings restore precise control arm pivot movement, improving ride quality, handling predictability, and long-term suspension performance under towing, hauling, and off-road loads. Front-end alignment is mandatory after installation.
Verified Fitment (OFAS Standard)
- Chevy Silverado 2500HD: 2001–2010 (GMT800 and GMT900 platforms)
- Chevy Silverado 3500HD: 2001–2010 (GMT800 and GMT900 platforms)
- GMC Sierra 2500HD: 2001–2010 (GMT800 and GMT900 platforms)
- GMC Sierra 3500HD: 2001–2010 (GMT800 and GMT900 platforms)
Does NOT fit: 2011 or newer Silverado/Sierra HD (K2XX/T1XX — different UCA bushing configuration). Does not fit Silverado/Sierra 1500 (different UCA geometry). Confirm model year and platform before ordering.
Technical Specifications
- SKU: AXGMUCAB10
- Type: Upper control arm bushing kit
- Fitment: Direct-fit replacement for factory GMT800/GMT900 UCA bushings
- Quantity: Complete kit — confirm contents cover both sides before ordering
- Weight: 2 lbs
- Application: Front suspension rebuild — towing, hauling, daily driving, off-road
Symptoms of Worn Upper Control Arm Bushings
- Clunking or knocking from the front suspension over bumps or during steering input
- Steering wander or vague on-center feel
- Uneven or accelerated front tire wear
- Alignment that cannot be held or drifts after service
- Visible cracking, tearing, or separation of the bushing material on inspection
Installation Notes
- Alignment mandatory: Full front-end alignment (caster, camber, toe) is required after UCA bushing replacement. Bushing replacement changes the control arm pivot geometry — do not drive the vehicle until aligned by a qualified alignment technician.
- Replace in pairs: Replace UCA bushings on both sides simultaneously. Mismatched bushing condition between left and right will cause unequal suspension compliance and inconsistent handling.
- Torque at ride height: Final torque on UCA bushing hardware must be applied with the suspension loaded at ride height — not at full droop. Torquing at full droop preloads the bushing and causes premature failure.
- Press-fit installation: UCA bushings are typically pressed into the control arm housing. A hydraulic press or bushing press tool is required for proper installation. Do not drive bushings in with a hammer — uneven seating will cause premature wear and noise.
- Inspect UCA shell: Inspect the upper control arm housing for cracks, corrosion, or deformation before installing new bushings. A damaged housing will not retain the bushing correctly.
- Torque specs: Torque UCA pivot hardware to OEM specification for 2001–2010 GM 2500HD/3500HD (verify in GM service manual).
Installation Warning
Do not install on 2011 or newer GM HD trucks — K2XX/T1XX UCA bushing configuration is incompatible. Do not torque UCA hardware at full suspension droop — bushing preload will cause premature failure. Do not drive the vehicle until a full front-end alignment has been completed. A hydraulic press is required for correct bushing installation — do not attempt to drive bushings in with a hammer. Once installed, the kit is non-returnable.
Are you replacing bushings due to clunking, wander, or tire wear, and have you confirmed your truck is 2001–2010 GMT800/GMT900 (not 2011+ K2XX) — do you have access to a hydraulic press for installation?
