Description
The drag link your lift kit should have come with.
You lifted the Super Duty, gained the stance and clearance, and then discovered the bump steer. The vague, wandering front end on a straight highway. The premature tire wear three months after the lift went on. That's not the lift's fault — that's your OEM drag link, a stamped steel unit engineered for stock ride height, trying to function at angles it was never designed for.
The Apex Chassis KIT371-BLK is the fix. A massive 2" solid 7075-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum drag link with black powdercoat finish and ProLock high-misalignment joints — built specifically for 2–6" lifted 4WD applications on the 2005–2016 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty P221 platform. Eliminates the flex, deflection, and geometric compromise the OEM unit introduces the moment the front end moves beyond stock height.

| 2017–2026 Ford F-250 / F-350 (P558 / P702) | Completely different steering geometry | KIT373-BLK |

| GM, Ram, Toyota trucks | Not compatible | — |
P221 vs P558 generation split — critical: Ford completely redesigned the Super Duty steering geometry between 2016 and 2017. A 2017 or newer Super Duty requires a different drag link entirely. If your truck is 2017 or later, stop here and see KIT373-BLK.
⚠️ BDS Adjustable Trackbar incompatibility: The KIT371-BLK is NOT compatible with the BDS Adjustable Trackbar. The adjustment sleeves on the BDS unit contact the Apex drag link during steering cycling. If you are running a BDS adjustable trackbar, text (469) 407-7538 before ordering — we'll identify the correct configuration for your setup.
Supporting mod requirements:
- Lifts 2–4": Direct replacement. Verify OEM pitman arm compatibility before installing.
- Lifts exceeding 4": Track bar relocation bracket strongly recommended. Verify pitman arm drop compatibility before ordering — an aftermarket dropped pitman arm may be required.
Before You Buy — Questions We Get Asked
Q: Will this fix the bump steer on my lifted F-250 or F-350?
On 2–6" lifted applications, yes — in most cases. The high-misalignment joints and corrected geometry address the primary cause of bump steer introduced when the OEM drag link operates beyond its designed range. A full alignment after installation is required to realize the full correction. If your tie rod is also OEM, consider the KIT374-BLK complete kit — correcting one end without the other leaves a partial fix.
Q: Do I need a dropped pitman arm with this?
Depends on lift height. For lifts under 4" with a stock pitman arm the KIT371-BLK typically installs without one. For lifts 4" and above, verify your OEM pitman arm drop is compatible or plan for an aftermarket dropped unit. Text (469) 407-7538 with your lift height and we'll give you a straight answer before you order.
Q: Do I need a track bar relocation bracket too?
For lifts under 4", not necessarily. For lifts 4" and above, a track bar relocation bracket is strongly recommended alongside this drag link to maintain proper front axle centering. Doing the drag link without the track bar bracket on a 4"+ lift addresses part of the geometry problem — not all of it. Text us your setup and we'll confirm what you need.
Q: How hard is this install and what will I need?
Intermediate difficulty. Standard hand tools, a torque wrench, and a floor jack are required. The physical swap is straightforward — the alignment requirement is not optional. A full front-end alignment — caster, camber, and toe — immediately after installation is mandatory. Do not drive at highway speeds until alignment is complete. The Apex installation sheet with full torque specs and cotter pin sequence ships with the unit.
The Obsidian Take
The KIT371-BLK is the right call for the P221 Super Duty owner who has already addressed or verified the tie rod and needs the drag link corrected to finish the geometry fix — or who is phasing the steering overhaul one component at a time. The 2" solid 7075-T6 construction eliminates the flex and deflection that makes a lifted Super Duty wander and fight the wheel under load. The ProLock system physically locks adjustment settings against trail vibration and sustained towing loads. The black powdercoat finish seals the aluminum against road salt and moisture year-round with zero maintenance required. At 22 lbs it's a direct swap for the OEM unit, one alignment appointment, and the bump steer problem is resolved.
If your tie rod is also OEM or showing wear, the KIT374-BLK complete master kit is the smarter purchase — both components corrected in one session with one alignment fee instead of two. This drag link alone is the right call only if the tie rod has already been upgraded or is confirmed in good condition. If you are running a BDS adjustable trackbar, stop and text us before ordering — that specific combination has a clearance conflict we verify manually. And if your truck is a 2017 or newer, this unit will not fit your P558/P702 steering geometry — see KIT373-BLK.
