Description
One kit. Both components. The steering correction your JK has been waiting for.
The 2007–2018 Wrangler JK is one of the most capable off-road platforms ever built from the factory. Lift it, run 35s or 37s, and push it into terrain most vehicles won't attempt — and the factory steering becomes the weakest link in the whole build. The OEM tie rod and drag link were engineered for stock height, stock tires, and pavement. Put them under the lateral load of big tires on a lifted JK hammering through rock gardens and they flex, deflect, and introduce the bump steer and vague front-end response that makes a built Wrangler feel unfinished.
The Apex Chassis KIT150-NoFlip is the complete fix. A 1-ton tie rod and drag link assembly built from 1.5" heavy-wall DOM steel with proprietary Ninja Joints™ and the ProLock™ double-adjuster system — engineered specifically for the 2007–2018 Jeep Wrangler JK and JKU at 2–6" of lift with OEM or mild aftermarket knuckles. One kit. Both steering components. Done right.

Why DOM steel and not aluminum on the JK: A Wrangler's steering linkage gets scraped and slammed against boulders and rock faces in ways no full-size truck steering ever sees. Aluminum delivers the right performance on Ram HD and Super Duty platforms where impacts are indirect. On a rock crawler, the tie rod slides over boulders under full load. Heavy-wall DOM steel eliminates the internal weld seam of standard ERW tubing and produces a completely uniform wall thickness that resists the localized crushing forces of rock crawling without denting, crimping, or losing tracking shape.
The double-adjuster advantage: On a factory JK, setting toe or centering the steering wheel requires physically disconnecting the tie rod from the knuckle — every alignment adjustment means unbolting a steering component. Apex built a massive hex double-adjuster sleeve directly into the bar. Your alignment tech makes micro-adjustments directly on the vehicle link without ever disconnecting a joint. Alignment shop labor time cut in half. Clean, precise, repeatable.

| TJ, YJ, CJ Wranglers | Different platforms entirely | — |
2018 model year — critical: 2018 was a transition year. The KIT150-NoFlip fits 2018 Wrangler JK and JKU only — NOT the 2018 Wrangler JL or JLU. The JL uses completely different steering geometry. Confirm your 2018 is a JK/JKU body style before ordering.
⚠️ Wheel clearance — hard requirement: The oversized 1-ton Ninja Joint™ housings require a minimum 17" wheel with 4.75" or less backspacing. Factory JK 17" wheels run approximately 6.25" backspacing — the inner barrel will contact the joint housings. Do not order without verifying your wheel backspacing. Text (469) 407-7538 with your wheel brand, model, and backspacing and we'll confirm clearance before we ship.
⚠️ High-steer knuckle incompatibility: Installing the no-flip kit on high-steer knuckles will produce incorrect drag link angle and unsafe steering geometry. If you are running Dynatrac, RockJock, Synergy, or any high-steer conversion — stop here. The flip kit variant is the correct unit.
Supporting mod requirements:
- Lifts 2–3": Direct bolt-on beyond wheel backspacing requirement. No additional hardware required.
- Lifts exceeding 3": Adjustable control arms or a caster correction kit recommended to restore factory caster angle.
- Lifts exceeding 4": Caster correction is strongly recommended before installation.
Before You Buy — Questions We Get Asked
Q: What's the difference between the no-flip and flip kit?
The no-flip KIT150-NoFlip retains factory steering geometry — the drag link mounts underneath the passenger knuckle in standard position. The flip kit variant mounts the drag link to the top of the knuckle, correcting the extreme angles produced by high-steer knuckle conversions or massive suspension heights. Stock or standard aftermarket knuckles without high-steer conversion — this no-flip kit is correct. High-steer knuckles of any brand — flip kit only, no exceptions.
Q: Will this work with my factory JK 17" wheels?
No — not without wheel spacers. Factory JK 17" wheels run approximately 6.25" backspacing, which pulls the inner barrel too close to the axle. The oversized 1-ton Ninja Joint™ housings will contact the inner wheel lip. You need aftermarket wheels with 4.75" or less backspacing. Text (469) 407-7538 with your wheel brand, model, and backspacing and we'll confirm clearance before you order.
Q: What are Ninja Joints™ and why do they matter?
Apex's proprietary 1-ton rod end system — massive articulation sweep without binding, serviceable and rebuildable design, phosphate-coated for corrosion resistance. Standard replacement ends bind at the extreme angles a heavily lifted JK produces at full droop. When Ninja Joints wear, you rebuild them rather than replacing the entire assembly. For a Jeep that gets used hard, rebuildable joints are the only specification that makes sense.
Q: How hard is this install and what will I need?
Intermediate difficulty. Standard hand tools, a torque wrench, and a floor jack are required. Replacing both steering components simultaneously — professional alignment immediately after is not optional. Failure to align will trigger the JK's electronic stability control traction light in addition to producing rapid tire wear. Budget one garage session for the swap and one same-day alignment appointment. On lifts exceeding 3", have caster correction planned before the alignment appointment.
The Obsidian Take
The KIT150-NoFlip is built for the JK and JKU owner who has done the lift, put real tires under it, and needs the steering to match the rest of the build. The 1.5" heavy-wall DOM steel construction handles the localized crushing forces of rock crawling that aluminum cannot — when the tie rod slides over a boulder at full axle droop under load, solid DOM steel stays straight. The Ninja Joints handle the extreme articulation angles a heavily lifted JK produces without binding at full compression or full droop. The integrated double-adjuster sleeve makes alignment precise and repeatable without disconnecting joints. At 25.6 lbs it is one of the lightest 1-ton steering upgrades available for this platform and installs in a single session with one alignment fee.
This kit is not for JL or JLU owners — the steering geometry changed completely in 2018 and this kit will not fit. It is not for builders running high-steer knuckle conversions — Dynatrac, RockJock, Synergy, or any high-steer setup requires the flip kit variant, no exceptions. It is not for JK owners still running factory 17" wheels — the 6.25" backspacing on factory JK wheels will contact the Ninja Joint housings and the kit will not clear. Verify your wheel backspacing before ordering or text us your wheel specs and we'll confirm before we ship.
