Description
Brand: Apex Chassis | SKU: KIT140-NoFlip | Configuration: 1-Ton Polished Aluminum Tie Rod + Drag Link | Material: 1.5" Solid 7075-T6 Aluminum | Lift Range: 2–6" | Free Shipping | Affirm & Afterpay Available
Every Component on This JK Was Chosen With Intent. The Steering Should Be No Different.
You built this JK because you believed in the platform. The lift, the tires, the bumper, the lights — nothing was chosen without a distinct reason. The steering linkage is the one component that connects every directional input you give the wheel to everything the front axle does. It should match the exact standard of the rest of the build.
The factory tie rod and drag link are thin stamped steel, engineered for stock tire sizes. At 2–6" of lift with real tires under a JK that gets used the way it was built to be used, that factory linkage flexes, deflects, and introduces the vague front-end wander and bump steer that makes a well-built Wrangler feel unfinished. It doesn't belong on a build that's come this far.
The Apex Chassis KIT140-NoFlip is the correction — and the choice you make when the build standard applies underneath as much as it does on top. Premium 1.5" solid 7075-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum construction, proprietary 1-ton Ninja Joints™, and the full ProLock™ double-adjuster system engineered for the 2007–2018 Jeep Wrangler JK and JKU at 2–6" of lift with OEM or mild aftermarket knuckles. At 25.6 lbs — 23.8 lbs lighter than the steel version — it's the mirror-finish aluminum choice that doesn't compromise performance for aesthetics.
The Obsidian Take
Two primary material options exist for the standard no-flip Apex JK steering lineup — solid high-strength steel (KIT130-NoFlip) and solid 7075-T6 aluminum (KIT150 series). The KIT140-NoFlip is the polished aluminum version — engineered for the builder who demands maximum unsprung weight savings, highway ride compliance, and pristine show-quality undercarriage aesthetics without sacrificing trail resilience.
Apex cuts this linkage from a massive 1.5" diameter solid 7075-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum rod. The choice of solid construction over hollow tubing eliminates the weld seam failure mode and delivers the uniform cross-sectional strength that 1-ton joint ends demand. At 25.6 lbs — 23.8 lbs lighter than the steel KIT130-NoFlip — the unsprung weight savings are significant and directly measurable. Less unsprung mass means your suspension dampers respond faster to road inputs, improving highway tracking and steering compliance under the lateral load of 35" or 37" tire packages. 7075-T6 also features natural flex memory — the bar absorbs harsh trail vibration and springs back to its original profile without bending permanently.
The overbuilt joint ends carry Apex's proprietary 1-ton Ninja Joints™ — deep metal-to-metal internal bearing tracks that accommodate full suspension articulation without binding. The ProLock™ system physically anchors your alignment — precision-machined keyway washers, dual-thread jam nuts with 3 integrated set screws on the wrench flats. Your toe settings cannot walk or shake loose on a washboard.
The double-adjuster detail most listings miss:
On a factory JK, adjusting your toe or centering your steering wheel requires physically disconnecting the tie rod end from the steering knuckle. The Apex integrated Heavy-Duty Double-Adjuster Sleeve lets your alignment tech make micro-adjustments directly on the vehicle link while it sits on the alignment rack — without ever disconnecting a joint. Alignment labor time cut in half.
The polished finish is raw, highly-buffed 7075-T6 aluminum — not chrome plating that flakes, not silver paint that chips. It handles the elements without structural compromise and reflects the standard of the rest of the build.
Honest comparison with KIT130-NoFlip:
The KIT130-NoFlip is solid high-strength steel at 49.4 lbs — the right choice for dedicated rock crawling where the linkage will take repeated direct strikes against boulder shelves. Steel handles that localized impact stress in a way aluminum cannot. The KIT140-NoFlip at 25.6 lbs is the right choice for trail-capable, highway-focused, and show-quality builds where the 23.8 lb weight reduction produces real improvements in suspension response and ride quality. If your JK sees serious rock crawling and direct linkage contact on the trail — KIT130. If it doesn't — KIT140-NoFlip.
This is the standard no-flip kit. Engineered for OEM knuckles and mild aftermarket knuckles without a high-steer conversion. High-steer knuckles require the flip kit variant.
⚠️ CRITICAL COMPATIBILITY & WHEEL REQUIREMENT WARNINGS — Read Before Ordering:
17" Wheel / 4.75" Backspacing Minimum Required: Because this kit upgrades to true 1-ton Ninja Joint™ housings, it requires a minimum 17" wheel diameter with 4.75" backspacing or less. Factory JK 17" alloy and steel wheels carry deep 6.25" backspacing — the inner rim barrel will contact the Ninja Joint™ housings at full steering lock. Factory 16" wheels will not clear. Low-offset aftermarket wheels or quality wheel spacers are mandatory.
High-Steer Knuckle Conversions: NOT compatible with high-steer knuckle conversions (Dynatrac, RockJock, Synergy, etc.). The flip kit variant is required for all high-steer applications.

❌ This unit does NOT fit:
- 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL / JLU / Gladiator JT — completely different front-axle geometry. See KIT125 series.
- High-steer knuckle conversions (Dynatrac, RockJock, Synergy, etc.) — flip kit variant required
- Factory stock wheels — 6.25" backspacing causes inner rim contact with 1-ton Ninja Joint™ housings. 17" minimum with 4.75" or less backspacing required.
- 1997–2006 TJ / LJ — different platform entirely
- YJ, CJ Wranglers — different platforms entirely
2018 model year note: 2018 produced both JK and JL Wranglers. This kit fits 2018 JK and JKU only — NOT the 2018 JL or JLU. Confirm your 2018 is a JK/JKU body style before ordering.
Wheel requirement: Factory JK 17" wheels at ~6.25" backspacing will NOT clear. You need aftermarket wheels at 4.75" or less backspacing, or quality wheel spacers. Text us your wheel brand and model and we'll verify clearance before you order.

Before You Order — 4 Fitment Checkpoints
1. Year and body style: 2007–2018 JK/JKU only. If your 2018 is the newer JL platform — see KIT125 series. TJ/LJ (2006 and earlier) requires a different unit.
2. Wheel specifications: Minimum 17" diameter with 4.75" or less backspacing. Factory JK 17" wheels at ~6.25" backspacing will contact the Ninja Joint™ housings. Low-offset aftermarket wheels or quality wheel spacers required.
3. Knuckle configuration: Standard no-flip geometry only — OEM or mild aftermarket knuckles without a high-steer conversion. High-steer knuckles require the flip kit variant.
4. Application match: Polished 7075-T6 aluminum is optimized for daily drivers, highway builds, trail explorers, and show-quality Wranglers where unsprung weight reduction and aesthetics matter. For dedicated rock crawling where the linkage will take direct hits against boulders — see KIT130-NoFlip.
Installation Notes
Intermediate-level install. Replacing both steering components simultaneously — professional alignment immediately after is mandatory.
- Alignment mandatory: Full front-end alignment — caster, camber, and toe — required after installation. Do not drive at highway speeds until alignment is complete. Failure to center the steering wheel will trip the Jeep's ESC traction warning light.
- ProLock lockdown: Ensure alignment tech fully tightens ProLock jam nuts to Apex specifications to engage the keyway washers against the adjustment flats after tracking is finalized.
- Torque specs: Castellated nuts at knuckle and pitman arm — torque to 55–75 ft-lbs per Apex install sheet. Install all cotter pins.
- High-steer caveat: Installing the no-flip kit on high-steer knuckles will result in incorrect drag link angle and unsafe steering geometry. Do not substitute.
- Caster correction: On lifts exceeding 3", adjustable control arms or a caster correction kit is recommended.
Installation Warning: Installing the no-flip kit on high-steer knuckles will result in unsafe steering geometry. Installing on JL/JLU will result in geometry incompatibility. Do not drive until a full front-end alignment has been completed. Once installed, this unit is non-returnable.
Questions We Get Asked
What's the difference between KIT140-NoFlip and KIT130-NoFlip? Same standard no-flip JK/JKU geometry and 1-ton Ninja Joint™ components. The KIT140-NoFlip is 1.5" solid 7075-T6 aluminum at 25.6 lbs — 23.8 lbs lighter than steel, polished mirror finish, natural flex memory, optimized for highway, trail, and show builds. The KIT130-NoFlip is solid high-strength steel at 49.4 lbs — maximum localized impact resistance for dedicated rock crawling where the bar takes direct hits against boulders. If your JK goes rock crawling and the linkage contacts rocks — KIT130. If it doesn't — KIT140-NoFlip.
What's the difference between KIT140-NoFlip and KIT150-NoFlip? Identical 1.5" solid 7075-T6 aluminum construction, identical weight (25.6 lbs), identical Ninja Joints™ and double-adjuster system. The only difference is finish — KIT140-NoFlip is raw polished mirror aluminum, KIT150-NoFlip is black powdercoat. Same performance. Choose based on your build aesthetic.
Will this clear my factory 17" JK wheels? No. Factory JK 17" wheels run approximately 6.25" backspacing — the inner barrel will contact the 1-ton Ninja Joint™ housings at full steering lock. You need aftermarket wheels at 4.75" or less backspacing, or quality wheel spacers. Text us your wheel setup and we'll confirm clearance.
Does the polished finish require maintenance? Raw 7075-T6 aircraft aluminum — not chrome plating, not a coating. Will not rust, chip, or peel. Over time it develops a natural aluminum patina. A quick pass with aluminum polish restores the mirror shine.
Does this fit my 2018 Jeep Wrangler? Depends on which 2018. Fits 2018 JK and JKU only. The 2018 JL and JLU uses completely different steering geometry. Confirm your 2018 is a JK/JKU body style before ordering.
