Brand: Apex Chassis | SKU: KIT125-Dana30-YesFlip | Configuration: 2.5-Ton Polished Aluminum Tie Rod + Drag Link | Geometry: High-Steer Flip (Over Knuckle) | Axle: Standard-Track Dana 30 (M186) Specific | Lift Range: 3.5–6"+ | Free Shipping | Affirm & Afterpay Available
You Flipped Your Dana 30 Knuckles. Now Finish the Build.
A high-steer knuckle conversion on a Dana 30 Sport or Sport S JL, JLU, or Gladiator JT completely changes the geometry of the front steering track. Moving the drag link mounting point above the knuckle eliminates the bump steer that standard geometry introduces at aggressive lift heights — but only if the steering linkage is built to work with that flipped geometry from the ground up.
The Apex Chassis KIT125-Dana30-YesFlip is the polished aluminum complete solution for standard-track Dana 30 builds running high-steer knuckle conversions at 3.5–6"+ of lift. 1.5" solid 7075-T6 aircraft aluminum on both tie rod and drag link — uniform diameter engineered for the tight clearance envelope of the narrow Dana 30 axle — over-knuckle flip geometry, Internal Flopper Stoppers™, integrated double-adjuster, and a mirror finish. 32.8 lbs. The Dana 30 flip kit for the builder who went all the way with the high-steer conversion.
The Obsidian Take
The KIT125-Dana30-YesFlip is the polished aluminum version of the Dana 30 high-steer flip lineup — the same flip geometry in premium aircraft-grade aluminum that drops critical front axle weight and anchors your steering track with a mirror finish.
Why 1.5" on both bars — the clearance engineering behind it:
Unlike the Dana 44 flip kit which uses a 2.0" tie rod paired with a 1.75" drag link, the Dana 30 version uses a uniform 1.5" diameter solid 7075-T6 rod on both components. This is a deliberate platform-specific engineering restriction. The operational clearance envelope around the steering stabilizer brackets and lower frame rails on the narrow standard-track M186 axle is significantly tighter than on wide-track Dana 44 axles. A 1.75" or 2.0" drag link bar would physically bind against the chassis mounts during hard off-road up-travel. The solid 1.5" cross-section delivers elite structural yield strength while clearing the narrow axle architecture exactly as the geometry requires.
At 32.8 lbs combined — significantly lighter than steel equivalents — the unsprung weight savings are directly measurable. Less front axle mass means your suspension dampers respond faster to road inputs, improving highway tracking and ride quality on 35" or 37" tire packages. It also reduces the rotational inertia load on your factory electric-hydraulic (EHPS) steering motor — protecting it from the heat fatigue that heavy steel linkage causes over time. 7075-T6 aluminum also features native flex memory — the bars deflect to absorb a harsh trail impact and spring back to their original profile without bending permanently.
The ProLock™ system physically locks your alignment — machined keyway washers, dual-thread jam nuts with 3 integrated set screws on the wrench flats. The Internal Flopper Stoppers™ built inside the forged joint housings allow a full 27 degrees of lateral stud swing for suspension articulation while limiting forward and aft deflection to just 2 degrees — eliminating the steering dead zone and tie-rod roll on lifted Jeeps. The integrated hex double-adjuster sleeve on the tie rod lets your alignment tech set toe metrics directly on the rack without disconnecting a joint.
The polished finish is raw, highly-buffed 7075-T6 aluminum — not chrome, not paint. It handles the elements without structural compromise.
Honest material comparison:
For extreme rock crawling where the linkage will take direct hits against boulders — the heavy-wall DOM steel KIT115-Dana30-YesFlip is the correct tool. For overland, trail, and daily-driven high-lift builds where weight reduction and show-quality aesthetics are the priority — this polished aluminum flip kit is the right choice.
Black aluminum alternative: KIT120-Dana30-YesFlip — same 1.5" 7075-T6 flip geometry in black powdercoat. Same performance, different finish.
This is the flip kit. Engineered exclusively for Dana 30 builds with high-steer knuckle conversions. For standard Dana 30 geometry, order KIT125-Dana30-NoFlip.
⚠️ CRITICAL COMPATIBILITY WARNINGS — Read Before Ordering:
3.5" Minimum Lift Required: Flip geometry strictly requires a minimum of 3.5" of suspension lift. At less than 3.5", the drag link will violently contact the passenger-side frame rail during compression. Do not order this kit for any build under 3.5" of lift.
High-Steer Knuckles Mandatory: Engineered exclusively for Dana 30 builds with high-steer knuckle conversions (Dynatrac, RockJock, Synergy, etc.). Installing on OEM or standard knuckles will result in incorrect drag link angle and unsafe geometry. For standard knuckles, order KIT125-Dana30-NoFlip.
Standard-Track Dana 30 (M186) Only: Fits Sport and Sport S trims (and pre-2024 Willys). Does NOT fit Sahara, Rubicon, 4xe, Mojave, 2024+ Willys, or Max-Tow Gladiators — these run the Dana 44. See KIT125-Dana44-YesFlip.
17" Wheel / 4.75" Max Backspacing: Requires minimum 17" wheel diameter with 4.75" backspacing or less. Factory Sport 17" wheels run approximately 6.0" backspacing and will not clear.
Taper sleeve installation: This kit includes a custom tapered flip sleeve. If your aftermarket high-steer knuckle is not pre-machined for an over-knuckle taper, you must drill the drag link mount to a straight 7/8" diameter before installation. Verify with your knuckle manufacturer before ordering.

Before You Order — 4 Fitment Checkpoints
1. Lift height (Critical): Minimum 3.5" of suspension lift required. Under 3.5" — frame contact will occur on compression. Cannot be safely installed below 3.5".
2. Axle confirmation: Standard-track Dana 30 (M186) only — Sport and Sport S (pre-2024 Willys). Dana 44 trims (Sahara, Rubicon, 4xe, Mojave, 2024+ Willys, Max-Tow Gladiator) require KIT125-Dana44-YesFlip.
3. High-steer conversion confirmed: Dana 30 must have an operational high-steer knuckle conversion. Verify your knuckle brand is compatible with this kit's flip taper geometry. Check whether your knuckle is pre-machined for an over-knuckle taper or requires 7/8" drilling.
4. Wheel backspacing: Minimum 17" with 4.75" or less backspacing. Factory Sport 17" wheels run ~6.0" backspacing and will not clear.
Installation Notes
Advanced-level install. Professional installation and alignment are non-negotiable.
- Alignment mandatory: Full front-end alignment — caster, camber, and toe — required. Do not drive until complete. Crooked steering wheel will trip the Jeep's ESC traction warning light.
- 3.5" minimum: Verify lift height before installation. Under 3.5" — frame contact will occur.
- Taper sleeve knuckle drilling: Review your high-steer knuckle manufacturer's specs. If the knuckle is not pre-machined for an over-knuckle taper, drill the drag link mount to a straight 7/8" diameter before installing the taper sleeve.
- Double-adjuster lockdown: Fully torque ProLock jam nuts after toe is finalized on the alignment rack.
- Caster correction: High-steer builds at aggressive lift heights frequently require caster correction. Verify post-installation.
Installation Warning: Installing on OEM or standard knuckles will result in unsafe drag link geometry. Do not install on any build under 3.5" of lift. Installing on Dana 44 axle will result in geometry incompatibility. Do not drive until full alignment is complete. Once installed, non-returnable.
Questions We Get Asked
Why does the Dana 30 flip kit use 1.5" on both bars instead of the 2"x1.75" split on the Dana 44 kit? The narrow standard-track M186 axle has significantly tighter clearances near the lower frame rails and sway bar brackets than wide-track Dana 44 axles. A 1.75" or 2.0" drag link would bind against those chassis mounts during suspension compression. The uniform 1.5" solid 7075-T6 profile delivers elite structural yield strength while clearing the narrow axle architecture exactly as required. Same alloy, different diameter — both correct for their respective platforms.
Will factory Sport 17" wheels clear this kit? No. Factory Sport 17" wheels run approximately 6.0" backspacing — the inner barrel will contact the 1-ton joint housings at full steering lock. Aftermarket wheels at 4.75" or less backspacing, or quality wheel spacers required.
Does this fit my 2025 Willys? No. Jeep upgraded the Willys trim to the wide-track Dana 44 in 2024. Order KIT125-Dana44-YesFlip instead.
What's the difference between KIT125-Dana30-YesFlip and KIT125-Dana44-YesFlip? Same polished 7075-T6 aluminum, same ProLock system, same Flopper Stoppers, same 3.5" minimum lift. The Dana 30 version uses uniform 1.5" bars on both components — fit for the narrow M186 clearance envelope. The Dana 44 version uses a 2.0" tie rod and 1.75" drag link — correct for the wider M210 geometry. Confirm your axle before ordering.
What's the difference between KIT125-Dana30-YesFlip and KIT120-Dana30-YesFlip? Identical 1.5" 7075-T6 flip geometry. The KIT125 is raw polished mirror aluminum. The KIT120 is black powdercoat. Same performance — choose based on your build aesthetic.
