The Sport Build Doesn't Need a Rubicon to Run a Serious Steering Kit.
The Sport and Sport S trim JL, JLU, and Gladiator JT run the Dana 30 front axle from the factory. It's a capable axle — and it responds to the same steering upgrade needs as the Dana 44 when you lift it and put real tires under it. The factory tie rod and drag link were engineered for stock geometry. At 2–6 inches of lift with 35s or 37s, the OEM linkage flexes and deflects under load, introducing bump steer and the vague front-end response that tells you the factory parts aren't keeping up.
The Apex Chassis KIT120-Dana30-NoFlip is the complete black anodized aluminum correction for Dana 30 builds. 2.5-ton capacity, solid 7075-T6 aluminum construction, Internal Flopper Stoppers™, integrated double-adjuster, and a hard anodized surface that doesn't require maintenance. The Sport build gets the same engineering as the Rubicon build. Zero compromise on performance, zero maintenance on finish.
The Obsidian Take
Two finish variants exist for the Apex Dana 30 standard no-flip aluminum lineup — black anodized (this kit) and polished mirror (KIT125-Dana30-NoFlip). The KIT120-Dana30-NoFlip is the stealth version — the same solid 7075-T6 aluminum construction as the polished kit, with a hard anodized surface that provides genuine corrosion protection fused into the aluminum rather than coating it.
Hard anodizing converts the outer layer of the aluminum itself into aluminum oxide — not a coating on top, but a conversion of the surface material. It cannot chip, peel, or flake under trail contact. For a Sport JL or Gladiator that sees trail use, mud, and real weather, the anodized surface stays intact without polish or upkeep. The polished version requires occasional polish to maintain the mirror shine. The black anodized version requires nothing.
The solid 7075-T6 aluminum construction on the Dana 30 platform uses 1.5" diameter rods on both the tie rod and drag link — a deliberate engineering decision for the narrower clearance envelope of the standard-track axle. The Dana 30 axle geometry has tighter clearances near the steering stabilizer brackets and lower frame rails than the wide-track Dana 44. The 1.5" solid 7075-T6 profile delivers elite structural yield strength while clearing the narrow axle architecture exactly as the geometry requires.
The Internal Flopper Stoppers™ built inside the forged joint housings eliminate the steering dead zone — 27 degrees of lateral stud swing for full suspension articulation, 2 degrees of forward and aft deflection. The bars cannot rotate on their ball studs before the tires respond. Immediate steering input. No slop. The integrated hex double-adjuster sleeve on the tie rod lets your alignment tech set perfect toe metrics on the rack without ever disconnecting a joint.
This is the standard no-flip kit. Engineered for OEM knuckles and mild aftermarket knuckles without a high-steer conversion. High-steer knuckles require KIT120-Dana30-YesFlip.

Before You Order — 4 Fitment Checkpoints
1. Axle confirmation (Critical): Standard-track Dana 30 (M186) only — Sport and Sport S (and pre-2024 Willys). Sahara, Rubicon, 4xe, Mojave, 2024+ Willys, and Max-Tow Gladiators run the Dana 44. Text us your VIN if unsure.
2. Wheel backspacing: Minimum 17" with 4.75" or less backspacing. Factory Sport 17" wheels at ~6.0" backspacing will not clear. Low-offset aftermarket wheels or quality wheel spacers required.
3. Knuckle configuration: Standard no-flip geometry only — OEM or mild aftermarket knuckles without a high-steer conversion. High-steer knuckles require KIT120-Dana30-YesFlip.

Installation Notes
Intermediate-level install. Both components replaced simultaneously — professional alignment immediately after is mandatory.
- Alignment mandatory: Full front-end alignment — caster, camber, and toe — required. Do not drive until aligned. Failure to center the steering wheel will trip the Jeep's ESC traction warning light.
- Hardware torque: Torque all jam nuts and castle nuts to exact specifications on the included Apex install sheet. Install all cotter pins.
- High-steer caveat: This is the standard no-flip kit. Installing on high-steer knuckles will result in incorrect drag link angle and unsafe steering geometry. Use KIT120-Dana30-YesFlip instead.
- Caster correction: On lifts exceeding 3", adjustable control arms or a caster correction kit is recommended.
