Description
Is This for You?
- You're running a UTV or ATV winch with synthetic rope and you have splicing knowledge — the Splicer XTV is the world's first splice-on synthetic rope shackle mounting thimble for UTV/ATV, and it requires either a locking Brummel Splice or Long Bury Splice to install. If you are not comfortable splicing synthetic rope, see the Factor 55 ProLink XTV (00110) or UltraHook XTV, which do not require splicing.
- You want a thimble that protects the rope at the termination point — the machined rope passage provides a tough outer barrier against rope impact, abrasion, and UV exposure at the highest-stress point in the winch line system.
- You want a WLL that matches your rope, not a fixed product rating — because the Splicer XTV is splice-on, the working load limit is determined by the rope diameter used. The thimble geometry exceeds minimum bend radius requirements to provide full breaking strength of the synthetic winch line installed.
The Result
- WLL based on rope diameter — the Splicer XTV exceeds minimum bend radius requirements for synthetic winch lines up to 5/16", preserving the full breaking strength of the rope at the termination point.
- Machined rope passage — provides impact, abrasion, and UV protection at the rope termination, where unprotected splice terminations are most vulnerable to degradation.
- Connects to both pin and bow end of 1/2" and 5/8" screw pin shackles, and to the pin end of 3/4" shackles — integrated rubber pad protects alloy fairleads and cushions line stowage.
A thimble is the hardware that protects the eye of a spliced rope termination from the abrasion and deformation that occurs when a shackle pin or bow bears directly against the rope fibers. Without a thimble, the shackle hardware contacts the rope fibers directly at the highest-load point in the system — the eye of the splice — and abrades or crushes the fibers over repeated load cycles. The Splicer XTV's machined rope passage routes the rope through a formed channel that distributes the bend load across the thimble body rather than concentrating it at a single contact point, and the machined outer surface provides a hard barrier against impact and abrasion from terrain contact and UV exposure. Because the WLL is determined by the rope, not the thimble, the Splicer XTV is compatible with any synthetic winch line up to 5/16" diameter — the thimble geometry is designed to exceed the minimum bend radius requirements for synthetic rope at this diameter range, ensuring the splice termination does not reduce the rope's rated breaking strength. Splicing is required. Factor 55 recommends either the locking Brummel Splice or the Long Bury Splice — both are well-documented techniques with video tutorials available online. The ProLink XTV (00110) and UltraHook XTV are the correct products for operators who do not want to splice. The integrated rubber pad protects alloy fairleads from metal-on-metal contact when the Splicer XTV stows against the fairlead face. Patent pending. Made in the USA.

Compatibility
✔ UTV and ATV winches — synthetic rope up to 5/16" diameter
✔ 1/2" and 5/8" screw pin shackles — pin end and bow end
✔ 3/4" screw pin shackles — pin end only
✔ Roller and Hawse (alloy) fairleads — integrated rubber pad
✘ Not compatible with: Steel wire cable — synthetic rope only
✘ Not compatible with: Rope diameters exceeding 5/16"
✘ Not recommended for: Operators without synthetic rope splicing knowledge — see ProLink XTV (00110) for no-splice installation
✘ Not compatible with: 3/4" shackle bow end — pin end only for 3/4" shackles
Installation Notes
- Splicing is required. Factor 55 recommends the locking Brummel Splice or Long Bury Splice. Video tutorials for both techniques are available online.
- Verify rope diameter does not exceed 5/16" before splicing.
- Inspect the splice termination at regular intervals for bury depth integrity, abrasion damage to the rope at the thimble passage, and rubber pad condition.
- Do not use with steel wire cable — synthetic rope only.
Engineering Question: Are you comfortable performing a locking Brummel Splice or Long Bury Splice on your synthetic winch line, and what is your rope diameter? The Splicer XTV requires splicing — if you are not comfortable splicing, the ProLink XTV (00110) installs without splicing using a titanium shear pin. Also confirm whether you are connecting to a 1/2", 5/8", or 3/4" shackle — 3/4" shackles connect to the pin end only.
