Description
Apex Chassis ProLock Tie Rod Assembly | Polished Aluminum | 2014–2026 Ram 2500 / 3500 4WD
The Apex Chassis KIT386-POL-JJSP is a heavy-duty ProLock polished aluminum tie rod assembly engineered for the 2014–2026 Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 4WD platform. Constructed from aluminum alloy with a polished finish, this assembly provides greater rigidity and reduced flex compared to OEM tie rods under high-load steering inputs while reducing unsprung weight vs. DOM steel alternatives. The ProLock joint design prevents loosening under sustained off-road vibration and shock loads. Designed for lifted applications where OEM tie rod geometry produces bump steer and accelerated joint wear. Compatible with both gas and Cummins diesel engine configurations.
Verified Fitment (OFAS Standard)
- Ram 2500 4WD: 2014–2026 (gas and Cummins diesel)
- Ram 3500 4WD SRW: 2014–2026 (gas and Cummins diesel)
Does NOT fit: Ram 2500/3500 2WD (no front axle/tie rod configuration). Does not fit Ram 1500. Does not fit 2013 or earlier Ram HD (see KIT381 series). Confirm 4WD configuration before ordering.
Technical Specifications
- Part Number: KIT386-POL-JJSP
- Material: Aluminum Alloy
- Finish: Polished Aluminum
- Weight: 35.6 lbs (lighter than DOM steel variant KIT386-STL at 42 lbs)
- Joint Type: ProLock high-misalignment ends
- Application: Lifted 4WD builds — compatible with 2–6" lift range
Installation Notes
- Alignment required: Full front-end alignment (caster, camber, toe) mandatory after installation. Tie rod replacement directly affects toe settings — do not drive until aligned.
- Torque specs: Tie rod end jam nuts — torque to manufacturer specification (verify in Apex install sheet). Castellated nuts at knuckle — torque to 70–90 ft-lbs and install cotter pin. ProLock jam nuts — torque per Apex specification to engage locking feature.
- Lift requirement: Designed for 2–6" lifted applications. On stock-height trucks, verify tie rod angle does not create excessive bump steer before installation.
- Supporting mods: A track bar relocation bracket is recommended on lifts exceeding 4" to maintain proper front axle centering and minimize scrub radius deviation.
- Pitman arm: On lifts exceeding 4", verify pitman arm drop is compatible with the new tie rod geometry. An aftermarket dropped pitman arm may be required.
- Material note: Polished aluminum offers reduced unsprung weight vs. the DOM steel variant. For extreme off-road or high-impact use, consider the DOM steel KIT386-STL for maximum bend resistance.
Installation Warning
Tie rod replacement directly affects steering geometry, toe settings, and bump steer characteristics. Do not drive the vehicle until a full front-end alignment has been completed by a qualified alignment technician. Failure to align after installation will result in rapid tire wear and unpredictable steering behavior. Once installed, the unit is non-returnable.
What is your current lift height, tire size, and intended use (street/trail/rock crawl) — confirm whether polished aluminum or DOM steel is the right spec for your Ram HD build?
