Description
Is This for You?
- You're running a Jeep, mid-sized truck, or SUV and need a kinetic recovery rope sized for your platform — 7/8" diameter, 30 feet, 28,300 lb MBS, designed for the extraction loads a mid-sized off-road vehicle generates in sand, mud, and snow.
- You want kinetic energy storage, not a static pull — up to 30% stretch means the rope stores energy as it loads and releases it as a controlled impulse, breaking the vehicle free from a stuck position without the shock loading that a static strap or chain transfers directly to both recovery points.
- You want a rope built for outdoor exposure — polymer coating for abrasion and UV resistance, moisture absorption prevention, and rubberized rope eyes at the wear points where uncoated ropes fail first.
The Result
- Up to 30% kinetic stretch — stores energy under load and releases it as a controlled extraction impulse, reducing shock load on recovery points, shackles, and the recovering vehicle.
- 28,300 lb MBS / 5,660 lb WLL — rated for Jeep and mid-sized truck/SUV recovery loads with a 5:1 safety factor between working load limit and minimum breaking strength.
- Polymer-coated double braid construction with rubberized eyes — abrasion resistance, UV protection, moisture prevention, and maximum durability at the highest-wear contact points.
A kinetic recovery rope functions differently from a static tow strap or recovery strap. A static strap transfers the towing vehicle's momentum directly to the stuck vehicle as an immediate tension load — if the stuck vehicle doesn't break free, that load transfers as a shock to both recovery points simultaneously. A kinetic rope stretches up to 30% of its total length as the towing vehicle accelerates, storing that kinetic energy in the rope's elastic deformation. When the rope reaches maximum stretch, it releases that stored energy back into the stuck vehicle as a controlled impulse — the same physics as a slingshot. That impulse is what breaks the vehicle free from sand, mud, or snow without the abrupt shock loading that damages recovery points, bumpers, and shackles. The 100% double braided nylon construction provides the elastic properties required for kinetic energy storage — polyester or polypropylene ropes do not have the same stretch characteristics and are not suitable substitutes. The polymeric coating addresses the primary failure modes of uncoated nylon recovery ropes: UV degradation, abrasion from dragging across rocks and terrain, and moisture absorption that adds weight and reduces elasticity over time. The rubberized rope eyes are the highest-wear contact point on any recovery rope — this is where the rope contacts shackles and recovery hooks under load, and the rubberized construction provides the abrasion resistance that bare nylon eyes lack. This rope is designed for Jeeps and mid-sized trucks and SUVs — for full-size truck and heavy commercial recovery, a larger diameter rope with a higher WLL is the correct specification.

Compatibility
✔ Jeeps — all generations
✔ Mid-sized trucks and SUVs
✔ Compatible with standard 3/4" and 7/8" recovery shackles
✘ Not recommended for: Full-size truck or heavy commercial recovery — 7/8" at 5,660 lb WLL is the mid-sized platform specification; larger diameter rope required for heavier vehicles
✘ Not a substitute for: Static tow straps or chains — kinetic ropes are designed for extraction from stuck positions, not flat towing
Usage Notes
- Inspect rope before each use. Do not use a rope with visible cuts, fraying, core damage, or eye deformation.
- Do not exceed the published WLL of 5,660 lbs under any load condition.
- Keep rope away from sharp edges during recovery — polymer coating provides abrasion resistance but does not protect against direct contact with sharp metal edges under load.
- Store dry and out of direct UV exposure when not in use. Polymer coating provides UV resistance during use but prolonged storage in direct sunlight will degrade the coating over time.
- Do not use as a tow strap for flat towing — kinetic stretch is not appropriate for sustained towing loads.
Engineering Question: What is your vehicle's gross vehicle weight, and what terrain type are you primarily recovering from — sand, mud, or snow? The 7/8" x 30ft rope at 5,660 lb WLL is sized for Jeeps and mid-sized trucks and SUVs. If your vehicle exceeds this weight class, confirm the correct rope diameter and WLL for your application before ordering.
