Description
The Obsidian Vision
The 2011+ GM HD steering system retained the single-shear pitman and idler arm center link mount from the previous generation — a known weak point that the Cognito Pitman and Idler Arm Support Kit (110-90772) addresses by converting to a double-shear mount. For owners who want to go further and reduce the road feedback transmitted through the steering wheel, the Cognito Fox 2.0 IFP Steering Stabilizer Kit adds a Fox Performance Series 2.0 IFP steering stabilizer to the system in a bracket configuration that is fully compatible with the Cognito PISK and any lift kit that retains the center link in the factory location. For 2016 and newer trucks, this is a true 20-minute bolt-on installation — no cutting, drilling, or welding required. For 2011–2015 trucks, the OEM frame-side mounting clevis (two welded tabs on the crossmember) must be cut off before installation, as the Cognito bracket uses a different frame mounting location and the Fox stabilizer is not compatible with the factory clevis mounting point.

Engineering Breakdown
- Reduces steering wheel feedback from road inputs by adding a Fox Performance Series 2.0 IFP steering stabilizer between the steering center link and the frame — the stabilizer's internal floating piston (IFP) design separates the oil and nitrogen charge to prevent aeration and maintain consistent damping force across the full range of steering inputs and road conditions.
- Mounts using the factory center link tapered hole near the idler arm (present on all 2011+ GM HD trucks) and a Cognito frame bracket at the left side of the frame — a mounting configuration that is fully compatible with the Cognito Pitman and Idler Arm Support Kit and does not interfere with any lift kit that retains the center link in the factory location.
- Installs in 20 minutes on 2016+ trucks with no cutting, drilling, or welding — GM eliminated the factory frame clevis on 2016+ models, making the Cognito bracket a direct bolt-on at the frame mounting location. On 2011–2015 trucks, the OEM frame clevis must be cut off before the Cognito bracket can be installed.
The Fox Performance Series 2.0 IFP steering stabilizer uses a 2.0-inch aluminum body with an internal floating piston that separates the oil charge from the nitrogen charge, preventing the oil aeration and cavitation that cause fade and inconsistent damping in non-IFP stabilizer designs. The result is consistent steering damping across the full range of road inputs — from highway driving to off-road trail use — without the fade that develops in conventional stabilizers under sustained use. The Cognito bracket uses the factory center link tapered hole (present on all 2011+ GM HD trucks) for the center link mounting point and a precision-fit frame bracket for the frame mounting point — a configuration that does not require the factory OEM clevis and is fully compatible with the Cognito PISK. Compatible with lift kits that retain the center link in the factory location — not compatible with lift kits that relocate the center link.

❌ REQUIREMENTS & CRITICAL NOTICES:
⚠️ 2011–2015 TRUCKS — OEM FRAME CLEVIS MUST BE CUT OFF: 2011–2014 trucks and most 2015 trucks were built with a factory frame-side steering stabilizer mounting clevis — two welded tabs on the crossmember. This OEM clevis interferes with the Cognito bracket and must be cut off before installation. The Fox stabilizer included in this kit is not compatible with the factory clevis mounting location. Cutting the OEM clevis requires a cutting wheel or reciprocating saw and basic fabrication capability. Verify whether your 2015 truck has the factory clevis before ordering.
2016+ TRUCKS: GM eliminated the factory frame clevis on 2016 and newer trucks. This kit is a true bolt-on installation on 2016+ models — no cutting, drilling, or welding required.
⚠️ FACTORY CENTER LINK LOCATION REQUIRED: This kit is compatible only with lift kits that retain the center link in the factory location. Lift kits that relocate the center link are not compatible with this steering stabilizer kit.
Recommended for use with the Cognito Pitman and Idler Arm Support Kit (110-90772) — the PISK addresses the root cause of GM HD steering system compliance; this stabilizer kit further reduces road feedback for owners who want additional steering control.
Installation & Technical Notes
Estimated Install Time: 20 minutes (2016+ trucks, bolt-on) / 45–60 minutes (2011–2015 trucks, includes OEM clevis removal)
2011–2015 Clevis Removal: Locate the factory frame-side steering stabilizer clevis (two welded tabs on the crossmember, left side of frame). Cut the tabs flush with the crossmember using a cutting wheel or reciprocating saw. Grind smooth and apply chassis paint or primer to the cut area before installing the Cognito bracket.
2015 Clevis Check: Not all 2015 trucks were built with the factory clevis. Before cutting, verify whether your specific 2015 truck has the OEM clevis tabs present at the frame mounting location.
Center Link Mounting: The center link mounting point uses the factory tapered hole near the idler arm — present on all 2011+ GM HD trucks. Verify the tapered hole is undamaged and free of debris before installing the center link mounting hardware.
PISK Compatibility: Install the Cognito PISK (110-90772) before or after this stabilizer kit — the two kits are fully compatible and do not interfere with each other's mounting hardware.
Torque Specifications: Refer to Cognito's included instruction sheet for all mounting hardware torque values.
Wheel & Tire Fitment
This is a steering system component — wheel and tire fitment is not affected by this installation. The Cognito Fox 2.0 IFP Steering Stabilizer Kit is compatible with all wheel and tire configurations on the 2011–2025 Silverado/Sierra 2500HD/3500HD platform, including lifted and leveled applications with the center link in the factory location.
Our team is standing by to verify your specific model year (2011–2015 clevis check vs. 2016+ bolt-on) and confirm 210-91333 is the correct steering stabilizer kit for your GM HD build. Purchase with confidence; we review every build.
