Description
Is This for You?
- You're building a 4.5" lift on your JL and need a front spring rated for the V6, I4 Turbo, or I4 4XE front axle weight — this spring is engineered specifically for the JL's front end load distribution across all three gas and hybrid powertrains at the 4.5" lift target.
- You've added a heavy steel front bumper, winch, and skid plates and your JL is sitting low in the front — the 188 lb/in rate at 20.375" free length is calibrated to restore and hold 4.5" of lift under full accessory load without over-stiffening the front axle.
- You want maximum front lift from a coil spring without sacrificing ride quality — Clayton's taller free length design delivers 4.5" of lift through increased spring travel, not a stiffer rate, keeping the front axle compliant on trail and comfortable on pavement.
The Result
- 188 lb/in spring rate at 20.375" free length — delivers 4.5" of front lift with load capacity for aftermarket bumpers, winches, and trail gear on JL V6, I4 Turbo, and I4 4XE builds.
- Taller free length design increases capacity without raising spring rate — maintains a controlled, compliant ride on pavement and full axle articulation on trail without spring separation.
- Black powder coat finish and USA manufacture — corrosion-resistant, individually labeled, packaged in heavy-duty bags for clean installation.
Clayton's COR-1508450 front coil springs are engineered for the 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL platform across V6, I4 Turbo, and I4 4XE powertrains. The 188 lb/in spring rate is calibrated for the JL's front axle weight distribution and the added unsprung load common in built JL rigs — aftermarket steel bumpers, winches, and recovery gear that push OEM springs into sag or coil bind. The 20.375" free length provides 4.5" of front lift through increased spring travel rather than a stiffer rate, which preserves ride quality on road and allows the front axle to articulate fully on trail without spring separation. At 4.5" of lift, front CV axle angles on the JL approach the upper end of OEM design parameters — verify CV axle condition and consider heavy-duty replacement axles for aggressive off-road use. Each spring is powder coated black for corrosion resistance and individually labeled with the part number. Sold as a pair. Made in the USA.

Verified Fitment (OFAS Standard)
✅ Fits 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL 2-Door — 3.6L V6 GAS, 2.0L I4 Turbo, 2.0L I4 4XE — Front, 4.5" Lift
✅ Fits 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited (4-Door) — 3.6L V6 GAS, 2.0L I4 Turbo, 2.0L I4 4XE — Front, 4.5" Lift
❌ Does NOT fit 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL V6 Diesel — heavier front axle weight requires separate spring spec
❌ Does NOT fit 2021–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL V8 392 — heavier front end requires separate spring spec
❌ Does NOT fit 2007–2018 Jeep Wrangler JK — different spring perch diameter and free length spec
❌ Does NOT fit 2020–2026 Jeep Gladiator JT — different front suspension geometry and spring spec
❌ Does NOT fit rear spring positions
Installation & Fabrication Notes
- Front coil spring replacement requires a spring compressor — do not attempt without proper spring compression tools.
- Disconnect front sway bar end links before removing OEM springs to allow full droop for safe spring removal.
- Verify upper and lower spring perch isolators before installation — replace worn isolators to prevent spring noise and premature wear.
- After installation, perform a front-end alignment — caster and camber will shift with ride height change. At 4.5" of lift, adjustable front upper control arms are strongly recommended to restore caster.
- At 4.5" of lift, front CV axle angles on the JL approach OEM design limits — inspect CV axle boots and joints before and after installation; consider heavy-duty replacement axles for aggressive off-road use.
- On JL models with ADAS (forward collision warning, lane keep assist): recalibrate front camera and radar sensors per Jeep service procedure after any suspension height change.
- Torque all suspension fasteners to OEM specification after installation with vehicle at ride height.
Wheel & Tire Fitment
Compatible with standard JL wheel and tire combinations up to 37" tires on a 4.5" lift. Running 37" tires at 4.5" lift may require fender trimming on some JL configurations. Larger tire fitment (38"+) will require additional modifications — verify with your builder. No load range restriction imposed by this spring set.
Engineering Question: Are you running a V6 Diesel or V8 392 JL? If yes, this spring is not the correct spec for your platform — those powertrains require a different spring due to increased front axle weight. Confirm your engine is the 3.6L V6, 2.0L I4 Turbo, or 2.0L I4 4XE before ordering.
